Prof Gray has had full-time research only positions for the last 27 years at both CSIRO and Victoria University. He was part of the CSIRO teams that developed MIEX™ resin and that conducted the Melbourne Water Climate Change Impact study, and he established Victoria University’s water research program that includes water treatment, water resource management, IT, ecology, psychology and economics. He also established and chaired Victoria University’s water program’s Industry Advisory Board that has provided systematic industry engagement for Victoria University research.
He has extensive research management experience being the Urban Water Team Leader at CSIRO, Director of the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation (ISI), and recently the Executive Director of the Institute for Sustainable Industry and Liveable Cities (ISILC). He has championed applied, industry focused research at Victoria University while maintaining research excellence as demonstrated through his publication and successful research grant record. He has provided research leadership and mentoring to VU staff and built high quality, applied research capacity across Victoria University.
